Cecil "Bud" Arthur Hixson

September 10, 1936 — November 27, 2008

Cecil Arthur "Bud" Hixson, age 72, of Albany and formerly of Union County, died November 27, 2008 at a care facility in Albany. Viewing will be held at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande on Wednesday, December 3rd from 9:00 until noon. A celebration of life will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Daniels~Knopp. Committal and interment will follow at the Cove Cemetery.

Bud was born on September 10, 1936, the son of Cecil Arthur and Margaret (Bierman) Hixson in Baker City. On February 25, 1955 he enlisted into the United States Air Force, beginning a 23 year career in the military. On December 27, 1955 he married Bertha B. Burton in Cove. They lived on various bases until his retirement in 1978 and they returned to Union County. He worked as a saw operator for the North Powder Lumber Company and he and his wife ran a rural mail route in Union for many years. Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, guitars and playing music.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Steven Hixson of Prineville, Sharon and Mark Noneman of Wilsonville, Jeanne and Hank Nichols of Springfield, JoAnne and Terry Watne of Albany and Larry and Juanita Hixson of Springfield; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters, Doris Wallis of Salem and Marian Frost of North Powder; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a baby brother, Raymond Hixson; his parents and his wife.
