Cecil Earl Bruins

July 30, 1930 — July 11, 2006

Cecil Earl Bruins, age 75 of La Grande and formerly of Nampa, Idaho, died, Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at a local care center. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Island City Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Cecil Earl Bruins was born on July 30, 1930, the son of John and Wilma (Backer) Bruins in Crandon, South Dakota. The family moved to Oregon in 1946. Cecil worked for the Umatilla Army Depot, Union Pacific Railroad in Portland, Alpenrose Dairy and at a Metalbestos Plant before moving to Nampa, Idaho where he worked for Fleetwood Trailers until his retirement. In 2006 he moved and settled in La Grande, so that he could be closer to family. Cecil enjoyed, dancing, animals and most of all loved his dog Sparky.


Survivors include his mother, Wilma Bruins Klaus of Las Vegas, Nevada; a son, Carl Lee Bruins, three brothers, John Bruins of Big O, South Carolina, Oscar Bruins of Heber Springs, Arkansas and Jim Bruins of Hermiston, Oregon; five sisters, Myrna Woodell of La Grande, Oregon, Lila May of Las Vegas, Nevada, Sally Roe of La Grande, Oregon, Sharon Belcher of Portland, Oregon and Marilyn Winter of La Grande, Oregon; his friends at Commercial Tire in Nampa, Idaho who always watched over him; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. His father; two wives, Diane and Betty; son Dale Edward Bruins and a sister, Carol Odermot all preceded him in death.
