Catherine "Kate" Wilde, 100, of Wallowa County, died July 31 at Wallowa Memorial Hospital. Bollman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Catherine was born March 8, 1910, to Joseph Jannuzzi and Mary Councel Jannuzzi in Somerset County in New Jersey. The family moved to Clackamas. Her parents had a farm there. Kate had two brothers, Pete and Donald.
Kate attended Milwaukie schools and graduated from Milwaukie Union High School in 1928.
In 1931, Kate married her sweetheart, Wilson Porter Wilde of Weiser, Idaho. The couple moved to Vale where their only son, Oliver Wilson Wilde, was born. They later moved to Wallowa County where Kate spent the rest of her life living on the Imnaha and Big Sheep Creek where the family ran sheep and cattle. They lived on Big Sheep Creek for 19 years without electricity or telephone service.
Kate was a homemaker all her life, cooking for haying crews and shearing crews when necessary. Kate always grew a big garden with beautiful flowers.
Survivors include her son, Oliver and his wife, Christie; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
