September 23, 1952 — April 22, 2006

Caroly Dorothy White, 53, of Joseph died April 22 at St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla after battling cancer. A graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Olney Cemetery in Joseph.

Mrs. White was born Sept. 23, 1952, to James and Leola Barnes in Pendleton. She graduated from Pendleton High School in 1970, and Eastern Oregon State College in 1974. On June 23, 1973, she married Michael White in Pendleton.

They lived in Roseburg, where she taught school, and in Eugene before moving to Joseph. She volunteered for the Boy Scouts, who named her a volunteer of the year. The family owned Mountain View Motel and RV Park. She was an optimistic person who gave everyone the benefit of the doubt, and enjoyed sewing, arts, crafts and quilting.

Survivors include her husband of Joseph; children, Zachary White of Richland, Wash., and Aaron White of Joseph; her mother and her grandmother, Violet Troxel, both of Pendleton; four brothers, Donald Tonning of Umatilla, David Barnes of Redmond, and Raymond and James Barnes, both of Pendleton. Her father died earlier.

Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Oregon Trail Council or the Blue Mountain Council; or the Willamette Valley Cancer Center.
