Cove

Carol Faye Richardson, 92, of Cove, died November 29, 2023 at the Grande Ronde Hospital at the age of 92.

A service will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Cove.  Committal and interment will follow at the Cove Cemetery.  Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center of La Grande.

Carol was born at Wolf Creek, near North Powder, Oregon,  to Andrew C Timpy and Ellen Simonis Timpy on December 13, 1930.

Some of her fondest memories were those early years spent with her Grandpa Simonis, who she loved dearly. She remembered going to church with him in a horse and carriage, and following him around his property as he worked.

Her family later moved to Union where she attended Union Elementary and graduated from Union High School in 1949. She was known in those early years for her jitterbugging and love for country music.  She remembered her home life as a child filled with love, happiness and lots of fun. Everyone loved to spend time there.

She married Marvin “Bud” Richardson on February 17, 1951 and moved to Cove, where they had two daughters, Brenda and Kim. Her life centered around her family and making a wonderful home for them. Both girls loved to be home and remembered their mother always there waiting for them. There were usually family and friends there, and she always made everyone welcome.

She loved the many family parties and seeing her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her nieces and nephews always said the party didn’t begin until Aunt Carol got there. She was the life of the party.

She later joined the Calvary Baptist Church in Cove. She loved the Lord and her church family. She spent many years as a Sunday School teacher, helped with various youth programs, and was a member of Dorcas, sending supplies to missionaries around the world. She was a deaconess for many years and helped organize many church events, from baby showers to meals for funerals.

She will always be remembered for her love of children, especially the “little characters!”

She loved and was loved by many.

She was preceeded in death by her husband Bud in April of 2000, her sister Wilma Haefer, brother Pharis Timpy, lifelong friend Pat Botham, and many others that were so dear to her.

She is survived by her daughters, Brenda and husband Paul Carman, Kim Svaty and Myron Svaty, grandchildren Gavin and wife Natalie Carman, Whitney and husband Kelby Witherspoon, and Jace Svaty. Great grandchildren Hudson, Avie, Carly, Aubrey, Landen, Annalise, Baby Griffin and many loved nieces and nephews.

Contributions in memory of Carol Richardson may be made to either the Cove Kids Club in care of the Calvary Baptist Church in Cove or to the Awana Club in care of the Union Baptist Church in Union.
