Carol Galbreath Judah

Carol Galbreath Judah, 57, formerly of La Grande, died Nov. 15 at a hospital in Meridian, Idaho.

A memorial service will be held in Fox at a later date.

Carol was born April 11, 1950, to Bruce and Colleen Reynolds Galbreath in Pendleton. She lived in the Long Creek area of Grant County. At 7, she moved with her family to Pendleton. She attended elementary school at West Hills in Pendleton and later La Grande High School.

In 1966 the family moved to Springfield and she graduated from Springfield High School in 1968. She moved back to La Grande in 1969 and attended Eastern Oregon College until she married Michael Smith in 1974. They had one son, Noah. Michael was killed in an accident at Fort Sill, Okla., in 1980 while serving in the military. Carol and Noah moved to Lewiston, Idaho, where she worked in the Social Services Department of Lewiston Care Center for 15 years.

Those who knew her say she had a great compassion for the elderly. Carol was an avid reader and was particularly interested in history. She enjoyed writing short stories, shopping for antiques, going to yard sales, flea markets and attending Silver Sage Baptist Church of Boise.

Carol is survived by her son, Noah of Phoenix, Ariz.; her mother and stepfather, Colleen and Jack Page of Boise; brother, Dick and his wife, Yolanda Galbreath, of Fox; sisters, Lori and her husband, Charles Allen, of Boise, Toni and her husband, Jeff Benge, of West Linn and Teri Galbreath of Portland; several nieces and nephews; ex-husband and longtime friend, Neil Ledgerwood of John Day. She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce; her paternal grandparents, Clyde and Delcie Galbreath; and her maternal grandparents, Wilbur and Julia Reynolds.
