Carol P. (Leibrand) Heilman

Carol P. Heilman, formerly of Wallowa County, died Saturday July 29, 2023 in Milwaukie at the age of 95.

Interment will be at noon on Saturday September 30, 2023 at the Prairie Creek Cemetery near Joseph and a memorial potluck will follow at the Hurricane Creek Grange Hall.  Questions may be sent to Andrea at aokeefe6025@gmail.com..

Carol Pauline was born in Fleming, Ohio on November 5, 1927, the daughter of Chester Allen and Mella Chloe (McAllister) Leibrand.  She was raised and educated in Pomeroy, Ohio and after graduating high school she became a Registered Nurse & Anesthetist.  On October 10, 1948 she was married to James Heilman in Columbus, Ohio and they lived in Klamath Falls and The Dalles before settling in Wallowa County where she worked at Wallowa Memorial Hospital and they raised their family on their farm on Hurricane Creek Road..

Survivors include her children, Deborah Rightmier of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, Teresa Morrison of Eugene, Oregon, Eric Heilman of Milwaukie, Oregon, Andrea O’Keefe of Snohomish, Washington, Julia Allen of Joseph, Oregon; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and other relatives.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband on September 12, 1997.

It was very important to Carol and her husband that people not be hungry and therefore contributions in her memory are suggested to your local food bank.
