Carmon Lee Depew

April 25, 1924 — February 25, 2014

Carmon Lee Depew, age 89, of La Grande, died February 25, 2014, at a local care facility. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center. To sign the on-line guest book visit danielsknopp.com. Carmon was born April 25, 1924, the son of Harry and Estelle Depew in Baker, Oregon. He was educated at Pilot Rock. He served in the United States Army. In 1946 he married Cressie Blanchet. They lived in various places including Pendleton, Pilot Rock and Union before moving to La Grande in 1960. He worked as a logger for various operations around Eastern Oregon. In his younger years he worked on ranches and competed in saddle bronc at the Pendleton Round-up. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his daughters, Toni Crites and Sharon Haefer; grandson, Maury Crites; sister, Earlene Little and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Dan Depew and siblings, Lloyd and Kenneth Depew and Mable Cable.
