Carmen V. Gambill

Carmen V. Gambill, 81, of Union, died Nov. 3 at a local care center. A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. May 7 at the VFW High Valley Post 4060 in Union.

Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation and Life Celebration Center was in charge of arrangements.

Carmen was born and raised in Union. She lived most of her life in the family home. She was the seventh child of Rex and Max Gambill.

Carmen was the rural mail carrier in Union for many years. She also drove the school bus.

Those who knew Carmen say she was a devoted volunteer. She drove the senior bus for many years and was a volunteer for the Union Cemetery District.

Carmen served in the armed forces as a weather person assigned to NATO. She was very proud of her service record.

As a veteran, she was elected to the post of commander at the Union VFW - the first and only woman to hold that post there.

Carmen never married.

She was preceded in death by all her siblings and her parents.
