Camille Y. Barron

May 31, 1925 — November 3, 2005

Camille Y. Barron, 80, of La Grande died at her home on November 3, 2005. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 pm Saturday at Skyline Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Portland. Mrs. Barron was born May 31, 1925, to Tom and Carlotta Bonney Maddron in Redmond. On June 2, 1942 she married the love of her life, William Scott Barron and they remained married for 53 years until Scott died. Most of their life was spent in Portland.

In November of 1969, Camille and her daughter, Yvonne, co-founded the Bridal Bouquet, a flower shop specializing in wedding flowers. They ran the shop together for six years before Yvonne moved to La Grande. Mrs. Barron and her husband co-owned Barron's Hand Truck Brake Co., Mr. Barron had invented the first hand brake for a hand truck. While he fabricated and assembled the trucks, she worked as the office manager and continued to work in the flower business for an additional six years. Mrs. Barron loved reading westerns, science fiction books and romance novels. She also loved hunting, camping, cooking and music. Her family remembers her making a 'heck of a banana boat when camping." She is remembered as a strong influence in her family's life, with a spirit that touched all who surrounded her.

Mrs. Barron is survived by her children, Yvonne M. Whitney of La Grande and William S. Barron II of Anchorage, Alaska and six grandchildren.
