Brenda Hebert Schwabrow

January 23, 1941 — May 4, 2011

Brenda Hebert Schwabrow, 70, of Boardman and formerly of North Powder, died May 4 at the home of her granddaughter, Danielle Bolander in Nampa, Idaho.

Funeral arrangements will be announced when available.

Brenda Joyce Hebert was born Jan. 23, 1941, to E. J. "Snipe" and Dora Jeanne LeBleu Hebert in Rayne, La. She graduated from Rayne High School and moved to Reno, Nev., where she worked at Harold's Club.

Brenda met Wayne Schwabrow and they married on June 4, 1960. Wayne and Brenda moved to the ranch on Coughanour Lane and Ellis Road outside of North Powder. Wayne's parents, Hank and Luella Schwabrow, owned the ranch. They had five children: one set of twin daughters Bonnie and Connie, Susan and Sherry, and a son, Brad.

Brenda was a housewife and worked at Anthony Lakes in the lounge in the winter. She also worked at the Baker Elks Lodge and at PacRac in Haines as a welder. Brenda and Wayne moved to Boise in late 1981, and they also lived in Meridian. While in Idaho, Brenda worked for Key Bank for several years and really enjoyed that job.

Those who knew Brenda say she was an excellent cook and often prepared Cajun meals like her mother had that required cooking most of the day. She loved card and dice games and after big family meals, a game of some sort would start and last for hours. Brenda loved music and enjoyed dancing. A favorite song of hers was "Southern Nights."

Brenda and Wayne moved to Boardman several years ago to be near their children. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June 2010.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Wayne Henry Schwabrow of Boardman; and their children, Bonnie Jane Schwabrow of Richland, Wash., Connie Jo and her husband, Rick Lawyer, of Pasco, Susan Jean Schwabrow of Boardman, Sherry Ann and her husband, Scott Houst, of Nampa, Idaho, and Bradley Wayne Schwabrow of Boardman; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia H. "Ponie" and her husband, Cyrus J. Rogers, of Scott, La., and Jackie Pentacura of Alabama; a brother, James D. "Jim" and his wife, Bonita Hebert, in North Powder; and several nieces and nephews.

Brenda was preceded in death by her father in 1972; mother in 1984; a sister, Nada "Nannie" Titus; grandson, Brian Lawyer; and great-granddaughter, Jaiden Bolander.
