Bonnie DeBoie, 94, of La Grande, died Monday, February 27th at the Grande Ronde Hospital.
A recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 4 at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, at 7th St and O Avenue.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 5th at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, at 4th St. and L Ave.
Bonnie was born LaVonia Nellie January 25, 1918 to John and Mary (Johnson) Miles at Baker City. She attended elementary school near Keating and attended Baker High School graduating with the class of 1936. After graduation she went to Portland to attend beauty school. After becoming a licensed beautician she returned to eastern Oregon and worked in a shop in Union. On September 24, 1939 she married Ralph DeBoie in St. Francis DeSalles Cathedral in Baker City. After there marriage Bonnie worked as a beautician in their home in La Grande for many years.
Bonnie was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and was very active in the Altar Society where she served in leader and officer positions. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. She participated in a bowling league for many years and traveled all over the country, both in competition and also with the Ladies Bowling Association. She enjoyed crossword puzzles but her greatest enjoyment was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bonnie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Nancy DeBoie of Albany; grandchildren, Kim DeBoie (Dan) of Salem and Jill Shreve (Brad) of Albany; great grandchildren, Johnathan Womack, Andrew and Matthew Shreve, all of Albany.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, a son, Ross, brothers, Myron, Cyril and Conard Miles.
