Binnie Lee Kast, age 67, of Summerville, died July 7, 2009 at her home. A funeral will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Summerville Baptist Church. Committal and interment will follow at the Summerville Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.
Binnie was born on June 30, 1942, the daughter of Leroy and Florence (Igo) Wilson. She was one of the first three women to go into the Bunker Hill Coal Mine in Idaho. She worked for a time as a commercial fisherwoman and has a secretarial degree. She worked in food service for many years in various places, her last position was with the ESD.
Binnie was a member of the Summerville Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and fishing. She loved being a grandmother.
Survivors include her children, Tony Kast of Lewiston, Idaho, Ricky Kast of Pendleton, Anyla Kast of Pendleton, Kiela Stellings of Summerville and Josh Kast of La Grande; seventeen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Chuck.
Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Binnie to the Leukemia Foundation in care of Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande.
