Billie Dean Garoutte

Billie Dean Garoutte, 68, of La Grande died Jan. 21, 2005 at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Wash. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 15, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. A potluck will follow at the Island City, City Hall.

Mrs. Garoutte was born on Oct. 10, 1936, to William and Doris Morrison Johnson in Charleston, Ill. She gradated from high school in Matton, Illinois. Billie later married Jean Hogan and raised three children. Jean later preceded her in death. In 1990, Billie married Eddie Garoutte in Reno, Nevada. She enjoyed playing cards, golfing and other games. Billie was loved by all.

Survivors include her husband of La Grande; children, Richard Hogan of Portland, and Michael Hogan and Curtis Hogan, both of La Grande; step-children, Chris Garoutte of Washington D.C., Darrel Garoutte of Idaho and Todd Garoutte of Wieasboton, Germany; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren and a sister, Sherry Sheldon of Mesa, Ariz. A sister, Fay Rothler, died earlier.
