Betty Roe

July 15, 1918 — June 14, 2002

Betty Roe, age 83, a lifetime resident of La Grande, died Friday at the Grande Ronde Hospital.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Monday, June 17, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Committal and interment will follow at the Hillcrest East Cemetery.

Mrs. Roe was born on July 15, 1918, the daughter of Edward and Florence (McLachlen) Donohue in La Grande. She graduated from La Grande High School and in 1938 she married Melvin Roe in Payette, Idaho. He preceded her in death in 1998.

Mrs. Roe was an active member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and St. Bernadette's Circle. She was also active with Grande Ronde Hospital, serving as a Pink Lady and with Hospice and the Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, fishing, hunting and riding horses.

Survivors include her children, Marlene and Ken Rahn of Kelso, Washington, Karen and Fred DeVore of Irrigon, Oregon, Tommy and Sally Roe of La Grande and Monty and Kathy Roe of La Grande; 19 grandchildren; many great and great great grandchildren; sister, Angela Keeler of La Grande; and other relatives and friends. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
