Betty J. (Philbrick) Briggs

Betty J. (Philbrick) Briggs, 80, of Elgin, died Jan. 2. A memorial service will be held in the spring in her honor. Loveland Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Betty was born April 13, 1928, to Joseph and Mary (Hughes) Philbrick in Detroit, Mich. She went to Stronghurst High School in Stronghurst, Ill. Being a military wife, she moved a lot in her life and lived in Alaska, Puerto Rico, California and Washington. She finally moved to Elgin in June 1996.

Betty loved cooking, sewing and being a military wife. She also loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Briggs; daughter, Melody Cooper Bloom; sister, Dorothy Lorreta Moline; two grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, J. B. Philbrick, Russell Philbrick, Delores Philbrick and Jack Philbrick.

The family requests that flowers be sent to Melody Bloom, 502 Clancy, Wallowa 97885, or a memorial contribution be made to the family.
