Beth Houser, age 87, of La Grande died Saturday at a local care facility. A service will be held on Saturday, November 29th at 1:00 p.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street. Committal and interment will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until noon at Daniels~Knopp.
Mrs. Houser was born on May 18, 1921, the son of Frank and Emma (Griffith) Sisley in Durkee, Oregon. She was educated in Huntington and in 1937 she married Wallace William "Wally" Houser, Jr. They settled in La Grande in 1959. She loved to walk all over town and sold chicken eggs and her homemade cakes to the Bobby Drive Inn. She worked as the custodian of the Eastern Oregon College (EOC - now EOU) for almost sixteen years. Her family was always the bright spot in her life.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Wallace "Lowell" and Jackie Houser of Milton-Freewater; daughter and son-in-law, Marchelle D'ann and David Cash of La Grande; grandsons, Wallace Lee Houser, Jason Wayne Houser and Robert Clark Cash; great grandchildren, Sarah, Bethany and Jesse Houser and Dalton and Jordan Cash; Uncle, Elton Griffith of Ontario; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank "Ronald" Sisley.
