Bertha Nona Winters Womack Prince

September 1, 1915 — February 11, 2009

Bertha Nona Winters Womack Prince, 93, of Cove, died peacefully in her sleep Feb. 11 at Cove Cottages in Cove. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Loveland Funeral Chapel. A viewing will run from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Lovelands. Burial will be at Wallowa Cemetery.

Bertha was born Sept. 1, 1915, to Anna May Beeman and James Ross Winters in Paradise. She was one of 15 children. She married Marley Womack of Wallowa April 21, 1936. They had three children, Janice Kay, Joyce Lee and Vernon Leroy. Marley died suddenly Oct. 29, 1957.

Bertha married Arthur Prince July 25, 1959, in Elgin. He died May 21, 1991. She continued living in Union, working at the Union Preschool, totaling over 20 years. She belonged to the Nazarene Church.

She is survived by daughters, Janice and her husband, Churchel Smith, of Battle Ground, Wash., and Joyce and her husband, Lowell Beeman, of Island City; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; step-sons, Ashley Prince and Marion Prince; step-daughter, Arthene Martin; sisters-in-law, Wanda Bruner and Eva Dern; and brother-in-law Lester Prince. She was preceded in death by nine sisters and four brothers, one son and one granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grande Ronde Hospital, Home Health Hospice, P.O. Box 3290, La Grande 97850.
