Bertha "Bobbie" Hixson

Bertha "Bobbie" Hixson, age 66, of Springfield, Oregon and formerly of Union, died Saturday, December 3, 2005 at her home. Viewing will be held on Friday, December 9, 2005 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Interment will follow at the Cove Cemetery in Cove.



Bobbie Hixson was born on August 1, 1939, the daughter of Clyde and Lillian (Warner) Burton in Riverside, California. At the age of 6 her family moved to Cove, Oregon where she attended school. On December 27, 1955 she married Cecil "Bud" Hixson, and together the couple traveled all over the world while Bud served in the Armed Forces. After twenty three years of service to his country, Bud and Bobbie returned to the Grande Ronde Valley in 1978 and settled in Union until 2003 when they moved to Springfield to be closer to family. Bobbie enjoyed, camping, fishing, crafts, traveling and most of all loved to spend time with her family.



Survivors include her husband, Bud Hixson of Springfield; children and their spouses, Steven Hixson of Riverton, Wyoming, Sharon Hixson of Oregon City, Oregon, Jeanne and Hank Nichols of John Day, Oregon, Joanne and Terry Watne of Albany, Oregon and Larry and Juanita Hixson of Springfield, Oregon; nine grandchildren, Jonathan Pennock, Mathew Pennock, Charlie Pennock, Allison Ziaee, Kristina Ziaee, Thomas Nichols, Kyle Watne, Scott Watne and Kurt Watne; three great-grandchildren, Hannah Reed, Joshua Keeling and Hailey Pennock; brothers; Boyd Burton of La Grande, Oregon and Don Collett of Pleasant Hill, Oregon; sisters, Jessie Paige of Terrebonne, Oregon and Nina Hense of Pleasant Hill, Oregon and other relatives and friends. Her parents and one sister, Nellie Dubuque all preceded her in death.
