Bernice Elnora Lindley

July 4, 1912 — April 5, 2005

Bernice Elnora Lindley, age 92, formerly of La Grande, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 in Pendleton. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Cemetery in La Grande. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Bernice Elnora Lindley was born on July 4, 1912, the daughter of Theodore and Gephilia (Tucker) Conrad in Flora, Oregon. Bernice attended school in Flora and on September 11, 1933 she married Ralph Lindley in Enterprise, Oregon. Together the couple operated the Flora post office and store until 1948 when they moved to La Grande. Mrs. Lindley was a past Girl Scout Leader from 1960 until 1965, was employed with Montgomery Wards and the Salvation Army and was a past member of the Blue Mountain Extension Club. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, canning, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Zana and Joe Shuman of Pendleton and Lila and Thad Killingbeck of Boardman, Oregon; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Her husband, parents, a daughter, Nita Rogers; two sisters, Blanche Hall and Lorlene Beddow and one grandson all preceded her in death.
