Audrie L. Chandler of Elgin, died Friday, July 22nd at the age of 84 at her home.
Private interment will be at the Elgin Cemetery near her husband Derril. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center of La Grande.
Audrie was born on January 10, 1938, at the old Grande Ronde Hospital in La Grande, the daughter of James “Bus” and Edith (Prout) Breshears.
Audrie spent her lifetime living in Elgin and worked as a clerk and stocker mostly at Elgin Food Town, but briefly at a firearm store.
She enjoyed embroidery, hunting, fishing and camping. She was a very accomplished trap-shooter and was an extreme competitor and received many trophies.
Audrie was married to Derrill Chandler on February 16, 1954, in Baker City. He preceded her in death on November 18, 2009.
Surviving members of her family include her daughters, Deborah Dyer of Elgin, Linda Dryden of Tri-Cities, 6 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a sister, Mary Martin of Milton Freewater and other relatives.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Jimmy Breshears; a daughter, Gail Chaffee on October 30, 2009, and two grandsons.
