Audrey C. Awmiller

May 8, 1928 — December 9, 2005

Audrey Awmiller, age 77, of Union, died Friday, December 9, 2005 at a local care facility. A celebration of life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Private interment will be at the Hillcrest East Cemetery.

Mrs. Awmiller was born on May 8, 1928, the daughter of Alfred Emerson and Hazel (Galbreth) Winslow in Weiser, Idaho. The family moved to La Grande when she was a child and in 1946 she graduated from La Grande High School. On September 12, 1947 she married Kenneth Awmiller in La Grande. Together they owned and operated Awmillers Market, The Pebble and later Boulder Market and Café in Union until selling it in 1989.

Mrs. Awmiller loved being a Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma. She enjoyed water color painting, reading, going for drives in the mountains and bird watching. She collected swans and plates.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Dale and Mylinda Awmiller of La Grande, Letha and Bob Joseph of Union and Linda Awmiller of Union; grandson and his wife, Dain and Tara Awmiller of La Grande; grandson, Dawson Baxter of Union; great grandchildren; Colin and Mason Awmiller of La Grande; brother, Fred Winslow of La Grande; and other relatives and friends. Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Mrs. Awmiller to the Lions Eye Bank in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 7th Street, La Grande, Oregon 97850.
