Arnold C. Cleveland

February 27, 1949 — November 7, 2005

Arnold C. Cleveland, 56 of Pendleton and formerly of La Grande, died Nov. 7 at Christmas Valley.

A funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Pendleton. Burial will follow at Echo Cemetery.

Mr. Cleveland was born Feb 27, 1949 in Pendleton to Alfred Monroe and Sara Jane Powell Cleveland. He was one of 10 children. He grew up in Pendleton and enlisted in the Army in 1968.

He married Patricia Ann Thomas in 1970 and they had four children. They divorced in 1980

He married Christine Michael in 1981 and they had two step children, Justin and Kristy Michael. They divorced in 1888.

In 1992 he married Johanna Pinkerton and they had two children. They divorced in 2000.

Mr. Cleveland worked for Puget Sound Trucking and from 1971 to 1981 he worked for Union Pacific Railroad.

For the last five years of his life he fought a battle with brain cancer.

He enjoyed gold mining, cutting wood, hunting, fishing, mushrooming and other activities in the mountains. He loved spending time with his daughters and grandchildren.

He belonged to the Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include daughters, Jennifer Dumont of Hermiston, Jane Vick of Canby, Belinda Bradford of Pilot Rock, Elizabeth Cleveland and Veronica Cleveland, both of Elgin and Tonya Cleveland of Athena; brothers, Hewitt Cleveland of Medford, Bill Cleveland of Coos Bay, John Cleveland of Nyssa and Bob Cleveland of La Grande; sisters, Sandra Allen of Elgin and Robin smith of Forestberg, Texas; 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tracie Swartout, brother George and sisters Helen Morrison and Alfreda White.

Memorials may be made to the Heppner Fire Department Memorial Fund in care of Belinda Bradford, P.O. Box 848, Pilot Rock 97868.
