Ardeth Emma Sink Moberly Riggs, age 83, of Summerville and formerly of the Springfield/Eugene area, died Monday morning at a local care facility.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
Ardeth Riggs was born on April 15, 1923, the daughter of William Homer and Eva Marie (Gault) Sink in Northgate, North Dakota. She moved to Yakima, Washington in her early years and met and married Harold Moberly on December 13, 1946. While in Yakima her job was packing apples. They moved to Springfield in 1950. She worked as a pre-school teacher for a time before going to work for the Lane County Educational Services District doing a variety of jobs for them. She was involved with the Church of the Brethren in Yakima and Springfield. Mr. Moberly died in 1972. On July 10 1977 she married Hugh Riggs at Camp Myrtlewood in Myrtle Point, Oregon. They moved to La Grande in 1995. He also preceded her in death in 2002.
Ardeth was an avid gardener and loved flowers. She enjoyed crafts and crocheting. She also enjoyed camping, traveling and visiting with and teasing her family members.
Survivors include her daughters and their husbands, Pat and Dave Rainey of Summerville and Mary and Ed Rainey of Gresham; step-daughter, Donna McMahon of Hillsboro; brothers, Kenneth Sink of Pomona, California and Harold Sink of Lodi, California; sisters, Edna Sharp of Yakima and Elsie Ihmels of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Kevin Jones, Crystal Jones and James Rainey; step-grandchildren, Dallas Rainey and Twilene Hundt; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Eight brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
