Antone "Raymond" Gonzales

June 25, 1933 — November 16, 2005

Antone Raymond Gonzales, age 72, of The Dalles and formerly of Union County, died at his home on November 16, 2005. Burial was at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory.

Mr. Gonzales was born June 25, 1933, to Joseph Henry and Amelia Anna Thompson Gonzales on Pumpkin Ridge. He attended school in Elgin and worked as the district maintenance superintendent for the Bonneville Powder Administration for 35 years. He demanded perfection from his crews and garnered enduring respect from his colleagues. On December 1, 1980 he married Louise Jane Hallerbarter Ulvin in Spokane.

He was a member of The Dalles Country Club and the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, he earned a pilot's license in 1968 and enjoyed the outdoors, writing poetry, fishing, boating, hunting, camping, reading, traveling and being with his family. His passion, drive for excellence and love of life has already been passed on to the next generation.

He is survived by his wife of The Dalles; children and their spouses, Joseph and Jeanne Gonzales, Amber and Ed Laite, and Melissa and Joseph McNeal; stepchildren and their spouses, Tom and Karyl Lea Ulvin; and Mark and Mary Ulvin; 10 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
