Anita B. Clarridge, 92, of La Grande died September 26 at a local care center. A celebration of life will begin at 2:30 p.m. October 6 at the Grande Ronde Retirement Residence, 1809 Gekeler Lane with Pastor Mouse McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Mount Sterling, Ohio.
Ms. Clarridge was born June 16, 1913, to Alfred and Lydia Pattburg Burger in Arlington, Virginia. She graduated from Rochester General Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1934. That year she married Ralph E. Clarridge in and lived in Rochester, NY until 1959. The family lived in Massachusetts, California, Alabama and Texas before settling in La Grande in 1983.
She was a member of the Grande Ronde Hospital Auxiliary, the First Presbyterian Church and the Grande Ronde Bird Club. She volunteered as a lunch buddy and a reading buddy in La Grande schools, helped serve meals ar the Union County Senior Center and played bridge at every opportunity.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Jean and Stephen Pelletiere of Mechanicsburg, Penn., Joan and Charles Zartman, of Gig Harbor, Wash., Jill Clarridge of Bremerton, Wash., David Clarridge of Newburyport, Mass. and Brian and Jeanine Clarridge of Quincy, Mass.; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her husband died earlier.
