Andrew William "Sonny" Marlow

April 6, 1915 — November 23, 2005

He was born on April 6, 1915 the eldest child of Andrew Jasper and Belle Templeton Delaney Marlow. Eagle River, Wisconsin was his birthplace but his heart was in Eastern Oregon where he spent the majority of his adult life.

Sonny began his career with a logging partnership in Sparta, Oregon, and he finished his working career as a log scaler in Elgin's log yard of Union County for the U.S. Forest Service.

Sonny had a phenonmenal memory, he remembers everyone he ever met. In his later years he spent many days at his nieces cabin in Starkey with his friends and family.

He enjoyed cribbage and showed many generations how to play, and loved to play card games like canasta. He was a talented fiddler with an uncanny ear for the right tunes, and could play any song requested.

Sonny was married to Hazel Irene Still on February 4, 1943 in Weiser, Idaho. They had two children, Sandra (Sandee) Dunham of La Grande and William (Billy of Skipper) Marlow of Baker.

Sonny wa the eldest of eight children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his sister: Ruth Bell and Gertrude (Gertie) Bales: brothers Larry and Charles (Chuck)Marlow, and great-grandson Finn Connor Garrett.

He is survived by his children: siblings, Julie and Mac Moon, Jean Bowman, Paul and Roberta Marlow. In addition to very special family members, numerous nephews and nieces, brothers and sisters in law.

He leaves behind his grandchildren and families: Kristina and Jeff Horn and Jordan Horn: Nick, Justine and Meghan Martin. Marleaux Allen, her daughter Sky Lynn Garrett and the only great, great grandchild Hazel Woodson. Jeff and KayT Garrett and their family, Havanna and Jonah Garrett.

Brenne Cathleen and son Ty Marlow Clarke. Brianna and David Sutton; and children William, Elissa and Elijah Sutton.

He was survived by many other special family members and friends that were a large part of his life. Donations in Sonny's name may be made to the 4-H program of Union County in care of the OSU extension office or to any memorial charity of their choosing.
