Andrew Charles Huizenga

Andrew Charles Huizenga, age 68, of Island City, died November 14, 2015 at his home. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Summerville Cemetery Chapel. Private burial will follow at the Summerville Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.

Andrew was born on May 12, 1947, the son of Cornelius 'Casey' and Maxine Marie (Tameris) Huizenga in Elgin, Illinois. The family moved to La Grande when he was young. He attended Riveria Grade School, La Grande Junior High and La Grande High School, graduating with the class of 1966. He graduated from Blue Mountain Community College. He worked for Harmon Motors until an injury halted that career. He then worked for the Federal Forest Service as an engineer and mapper until his retirement. He and his mother enjoyed camping and were members of the Good Sam Club. He liked shooting and hunting and loved fishing. He enjoyed the internet and helping people design solutions to problems.

Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Cornelius 'Buck' and Jean 'Jeannie' Huizenga of Fort Worth, Texas; numerous cousins and other relatives and friends.
