Amy L. Holman

February 14, 1919 — October 13, 2004

Amy L. Isitt Beardsley Holman, age 85 of La Grande, died Wednesday, October 13, 2004 in Walla Walla, Washington. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 18, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley with Sally Wiens officiating.


Amy Holman was born on February 14, 1919 on Cricket Flat near Elgin, Oregon. Mrs. Holman attended schools in Newberg, Oregon and Milton-Freewater, Oregon. In 1936, Amy met and married, E.W. Bud Beardsley. Together the couple moved to Union County in 1941.During the 1950's Mrs. Holman worked at and eventually managed the American Legion Club for a couple of years. She later went to work for U.S. Bank and stayed for nine years. She also took college classes for two years and was a straight "A" student. In 1965, Amy was married to Douglas E. Holman in Reno, Nevada; they lived in the Portland area for many years. They enjoyed traveling and visited many countries. Amy was noted for her generosity, feisty attitude, and for being a very hard worker. Amy enjoyed deep sea fishing, hunting with her husband Doug, spending time on the family ranch near Elgin, playing gospel music on the piano and organ, and most of all spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


Survivors include her daughter; Jeri Beggs of Volcano, California, sons, L.E. "Ty" Beardsley of Kalispell, Montana and Skip Beardsley of Elgin, Oregon; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother and three sisters and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, and seven brothers and sisters.
