ALVIN BJERKE


Alvin Oscar Bjerke, age 88, of Cove and formerly of Minnesota, died Monday, December 2, 2002 at the Grande Ronde Hospital.


A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Valley with The Rev. Lance Kittleson of the Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Private interment will be held later.


Mr. Bjerke was born on May 2, 1914 in Clearbrook, Minnesota. He worked as a farmer and later for Boise (formerly Boise Cascade) in International Falls, Minnesota.


On October 12, 1940 he married Petra Quam in Crookson, Minnesota. They made their home in Minnesota until October of this year when they moved to Cove to be near family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren; they meant the world to him.


Survivors include his wife, Petra Bjerke of Cove; son and daughter-in-law, Monte and Rosemary Bjerke of San Jose, California; daughter and son-in-law , Pat and Norman Gorze of Cove; daughter and companion, Barbara Woodbridge and Bob Kruzel of Norwood/Young America, Minnesota; daughter and son-in-law, Denni and Steven Stott of Merced, California; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren with another on the way; and other relatives and friends. His parents preceded him in death.
