Alidean Ann Beickel

January 21, 1927 — February 2, 2017

Alidean Ann Beickel, age 90, of La Grande, died February 2, 2017 at the Wildflower Lodge. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Island City chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A private interment will be at the Hillcrest East Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center. Those who wish may make contributions to a charity of choice in her name.

Alidean was born on January 21, 1927, the daughter of Vern and Bessie (Allen ) Coleman in Bend, Oregon. The family moved to La Grande when she was a baby. She attended La Grande schools and during World War II she worked for Union Pacific Railroad cleaning the Troop Trains. On January 28, 1946 she married Jack Boyd Beickel who was in the Navy. They lived in Seattle until his honorable discharge from the military and they made their home in La Grande. She was known for her great cooking and was a wonderful artist using both oils and acrylics. She collected many things, including bottles, china and glassware. Her favorite was her doll collection. She had a kiln for making ceramics and made many beautiful ceramics and porcelain dolls that she hand painted and made clothing for. When Jack retired they had many great trips in their motor home, camping and fishing. She was a member of the 4th Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Eagles, UPRR Jr. old Timers and the Mavericks. She was a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed playing the piano.

Survivors include her children, Alan Beickel, Fred and Kathi Beickel and Becky and Duane Bechtel all of La Grande; six grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and infant son, Jackie Dean Beickel.
