Alice "Jean" Kannard, 83, of Pendleton and formerly of La Grande, died Sept. 8 at St. Anthony Hospital.
Graveside funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Olney Cemetery in Pendleton. Viewing will run from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday at Burns Mortuary of Pendleton.
Jean was born Jan 22, 1925, to Thornton and Flossie Vickere in Sheridan, Wyo. As a young girl she moved to La Grande where she attended school. She later moved to Pendleton where she graduated from Pendleton High School with the Class of 1942.
She worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a telephone and telegraph operator at Duncan, and later worked for Consolidated Trucking.
She married Wesley "Wes" Kannard on June 20, 1955. The family made their home in Pendleton and she worked as a homemaker raising her family.
She enjoyed traveling, cake decorating, cooking, spending time with family and family gatherings. She had been a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and had attended the Free Methodist Church in Pendleton.
She is survived by her husband, Wes Kannard of Pendleton; two sons, Forest Kannard of Pendleton and Bill Kannard of Stanfield; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in her death by her parents and two brothers.
