Alice Myrl Eft, 85, of Hermiston and formerly of Union, died March 29 at home with family at her side. A celebration of life will begin at 4 p.m. July 9 at lower Catherine Creek State Park near Union. Friends are welcome to attend.

Alice was born Sept. 23, 1925, to James Oliver and Nina Joy Haines Turner at Medical Springs. She grew up in Union and moved to Hermiston in 1943 where she met the love of her life and husband-to-be, George P. Eft, a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corp stationed at Pendleton Field.
Alice and George married Dec. 24, 1943, in Lewiston, Idaho. When George was discharged from the service, they settled in Pilot Rock where they raised four daughters.
Those who knew Alice say she was a kind and loving woman with a strong faith in God. She was always willing to share her faith with others.
She is survived by her husband, George of Hermiston; daughters and spouses, Donna and Ron Burris of Cove, Ann and Stan Bird Canyon City, Mary and Ralph Hernandez of Stanfield and Shirley Martin and Kurt Gaunt Stanfield; twin sister, Edith Turner Flower of Irrigon; brothers and spouses, James and Joyce Turner of Elgin and Forrest and Nellie Turner of Union; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Alice was preceded in death by a son, Clyde Allen Eft; grandson, Jack L. Springer; brothers, Alfred "Bud" and Clyde Marsh; and sister, Rosemary Turner Krause.
