Alice Lanora Coady

July 24, 1932 — July 25, 2008

Alice Lanora Coady, 76, of Deer Island and formerly of La Grande, died July 25 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland after a lengthy illness.

A celebration of life will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at her Deer Island home.

Alice was born July 24, 1932, to Jerry C. Dockweiler and Millie Lanora Pyle in La Grande. She was educated in La Grande and in Eugene.

In 1950, Alice married Kenneth Francis Anderson. The couple lived in St. Helens then later divorced. She remarried and lived in Eugene for more than 25 years. After the couple divorced, Alice moved back to St. Helens area.

Alice loved hunting, fishing, gardening, crafts, her dog, Cooper, and especially her family. She worked for the State of Oregon in Eugene for several years and at her sister's preschool.

Survivors include sisters, Geraldine Lewis-Lefever of Cherry Valley, Calif., and Wynona Arends of Eugene; sons, Russ Anderson of Deer Island and Bruce Anderson of St. Helens; daughters, Kay Merrill, Sharleen Petite and Marleen Haagenson, all of St. Helens; 17 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Darrell; and son, Jerry James Anderson.
