Alice E (Akers) Baker

Alice E. Baker of La Grande, died Sunday, May 26, 2024 in La Grande at the age of 96.

A service will be held on Saturday, June 8,2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center in La Grande. Committal and interment will follow at the Grandview Cemetery.

Alice was born on April 5, 1928 in Pasadena, California to Jesse Fredrick and Harrieta Agusta (Huner) Akers.  She graduated from high school in Dallas, Oregon with the class of 1946.  On September 5, 1947 she was married to Willis Baker, Jr. in Independence.  They made their home in La Grande where Alice worked as a secretary and file clerk for Falks I.D. and others until they started their family and she became a full time devoted homemaker and mother.

Alice was a long-time, very active member of the Mountain Life Church and served as secretary for many years.

Surviving relatives include her sons & daughters-in-law, Lloyd & Nita Baker of La Grande and Dale & Davey Baker of La Grande; grandchildren, Shae & Kaylene Baker, Kelly & Carla Baker, Justin Baker, Tristan and Erik Ulmer, Russell & Robin Baker, Kammi & Todd Reser; 16 great grandchildren, a sister Mildred Cannon of Decatur, Illinois.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister Francis Bell and a brother John Akers.
