Alexis Sue Alta Marie Giese

July 19, 2001 — June 13, 2005

Alexis Sue Alta Marie Giese, age 3, of La Grande died June 13, 2005 as a result of accidental drowning while swimming at the La Grande Veteran's Memorial Pool. Viewing will be Thursday at Loveland Funeral Chapel from 1:00 until 8:00 p.m. A celebration of life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Summerville Baptist Church.

Alexis was born July 19, 2001, to Kimberly (Petersen) Hanson and Shane Darrel Giese in La Grande. During her short life she exhibited a fun-loving energy for living. She had a passion for buying shoes, shopping and playing in water. Fishing and camping were highlights of her life with her family. Abbie, her ferret, and she had a loving companionship. Her big brother, Kadence, always fixed her favorite breakfast of cereal. Above all she was Grandma Sue's shadow. They would take in all the yard sales and have great shopping trips to Portland where they visited Aunt Kaycee and enjoyed their morning coffee. Alexis didn't know a stranger and she brightened many lives with her smile and loving personality. Her family was the center of her universe and she radiated an enthusiasm that was infectious to all. Family members said God must have needed a special angel and chose Alexis to fill the void, so that when you see the brightest star in the sky you can know that Alexis is smiling down on her family and friends to help ease their pain.

Survivors include her parents, Kim and Mike Hanson; father, Shane Giese; siblings, Kadence and Kaleb Giese, Brody Hanson and Brittany and Tristan Hanson; grandparents, Bruce and Sue Petersen and Chris and Dave Giese; great grandparents, Bill and Helen Volle of Elgin and Ken and Sylvia Rogers; aunts and uncles, Kaycee and Angelo St. Claire of Gresham, Cody Petersen of La Grande, Rachael Victory and Shawn D. Giese; cousins, Brittany and Alex St. Claire and Jacob Giese; and numerous other aunts and uncles and cousins.
