Alberta Norma Bloom

January 5, 1921 — January 30, 2006

Alberta Norma Bloom, 85 of La Grande, died Jan. 30 at Grande Ronde Hospital. Burial at the Olney Cemetery in Pendleton will be private.

Mrs. Bloom was born Jan. 5, 1921, to Norman and Pearl Hartman Thompson in Santa Ana, Calif. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, C.C. Owen.

She married Richard W. Bloom in Pasco, Wash., and lived in Pendleton until 1954 when they moved to La Grande. She was a homemaker and a talented seamstress. She was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed cooking for family and friends.

Survivors include a son, Don Bloom of Island City; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Dick Hohstadt of Cove; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her husband, a daughter in law, Judy Bloom, and a great-grandson all died earlier.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral chapel at 1508 Fourth Street, La Grande.
