Albert Cline Plumley

February 7, 1928 — December 16, 2003

Albert Cline Plumley, age 75, of La Grande and formerly of Portland, died Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Walla Walla, Washington. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the La Grande Elks Lodge. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Plumley was born on February 7, 1928, the son of Sherman and Ruth (Stowers) Plumley in Colden, West Virginia. He was educated in West Virginia and when his father became ill he helped raise his younger siblings. He moved to La Grande in the early 1950's and later moved to Portland where he worked for Mitchell Brother's Trucking for over 20 years. He then moved to Tacoma where he continued in the trucking industry for another 22 years before his retirement two years ago. In 1966 he married Dorothy Garrett in Reno, Nevada. They moved to La Grande after his retirement two years ago.

Mr. Plumley was a former member of the Gresham Elks Lodge #1805 and was currently a member and Lecturing Knight of the La Grande Elks Lodge #433. During his working years he was a member of the Teamster's. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, RVing and traveling. He was known for his gift of taking care of people.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Plumley of La Grande; sons, David, Larry and Douglas Plumley all of Portland; seven grandsons; one great granddaughter and three great grandsons; brother, Roundy Plumley of La Grande; sisters, Rhoda Bacon of Lewiston, Idaho and Anne LeFores of Moscow, Idaho; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. His first wife, Myrtle Howell, two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
