Albert Wesley Marler, 73, of Baker City, died Sept. 18 at home with his family beside him after a long illness.
A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gray's West & Co. Pioneer Chapel, followed by burial at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Pastor Bruce Smith of the New Beginnings Fellowship Church will officiate.
Visitation will run from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception at the Rodeway Inn's Oregon Trail Room following the service.
Albert was born Sept. 30, 1934, in Flat River, Mo., to Rolla and Elsie Marler. He worked on various ranches most of his life, retiring before moving to Baker City.
He enjoyed fishing, mining and prospecting.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean Marler of Baker City; sons, Mick Marler and his wife, Terry, of Cove; Robert Marler and his wife, Erin, of Wilder, Idaho, and John Marler and his wife, Jan, of Barberton, Ohio; brother, Leroy Marler and his wife, Sandy, of Lovelock, Nev.; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Rolla and Elsie; brother, Robert; and sisters, Verna, Viola and Rosella.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with services, in care of Gray's West & Co., 1500 Dewey Ave., Baker City, 97814.
