Agnes Rebecca Hicks

February 9, 1924 — February 7, 2005

Agnes Rebecca Hicks, age 80, of Joseph and formerly of Elgin, died Monday, February 7, 2005 at an Enterprise care facility. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at the Elgin Cemetery with Pastor David Bruce of the Enterprise Christian Church officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Hicks was born on February 9, 1924, the daughter of Arthur Elvige and Annie K. (King) McCain in Cullman, Alabama. During World War II she served in the Civil Service in Alabama where she met her future husband, James Hicks. They were married on November 13, 1944 in the Post Chapel in Mobile, Alabama. They moved to Oregon in 1946.

She was a member of the Enterprise Christian Church. She was a charter member of the Elgin VFW Auxiliary and worked her way up through all of the chairs. She enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include her husband, James W. Hicks of Joseph; children, James Hicks, Jr. of Joseph and Larry and Paulette Hicks of Portland, Oregon; daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Phil Chrusoskie of Imbler ; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. A son, Stephen Dale Hicks and 2 brothers and a sister, preceded her in death.

Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Mrs. Hicks to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley.
