Agnes E. Fuller

September 21, 1915 — January 26, 2003

Agnes E. Fuller, age 87, of Union, died Sunday, January 26, 2003 at a La Grande care facility.


A celebration of life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2003 at Daniels Chapel of the Valley. Committal and interment will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.


Mrs. Fuller was born on September 21, 1915 in Promise, Oregon, the second of 8 children to Elias Walter "Fisher" and Etta Pearl (Sanner) Lively. Mrs. Fuller graduated from Wallowa High School and Eastern Oregon Normal School and began a teaching career that would span over 30 years. Leading from the one room school houses of Promise, Gordon Creek, Cricket Flat and finally to many years as 6th grade teacher in Union. In 1967 at the age of 52 she graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree from Eastern Oregon College and in 1970 was named one of the Outstanding Educators of America.


Her life was devoted to all children; their learning, their care and their protection. Her children and grandchildren were her life. Her role was beyond that of a grandmother and great grandmother. She encouraged creativeness and learning and instilled good Pioneer values. She was the one that listened.


She is survived by her children, LeRoy Fuller and Pamela and King Spain, Jr., all of Union; her grandchildren, Mica; Royce and his daughter, Cherri'; Sean; Dana; Fred and her special great granddaughter, Natasha; sister, Opal Pruitt of Portland; brother, Gene Lively of Springfield; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene on October 22, 1988 and brothers, Leonard, Elvyn, Jack and Robert Lively and sister, Iris Nuvall.
