Arlie Abraham Gordon, 51, died Sept. 12 in Cove. A celebration of life will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 at the Cove Cemetery with Pastor Richard Thew officiating. A potluck reception will follow at the Cove Sportsman Club.

Mr. Gordon was born Feb. 10, 1953, to Arlie and Dorene Gardner Gordon in Crescent City, Calif. He attended Lassen High School in Susanville, Calif., and married Elizabeth Deese on May 6, 1972 at her parent's home. The family moved to Eastern Oregon in 1989. He was employed as director of Cove Public Works, and his wife became the principal of Cove School. In 2003, he opened a welding shop, Arrowhead Ironworks in La Grande.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors, helping others and being with his family.
Survivors include sons, John and Scott Gordon of Bend; his father and stepmother, Arlie and Karen Gordon of Union; his mother, Dorene Gardner of La Grande; a sister, Candy Fizer of Janesville, Calif., and other relatives. His wife and step-father, Dan Gardner, both died earlier.
