Janet J. Mardis, of La Grande died Tuesday, December 19, 2023 in La Grande at the age of 87.

Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels-Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center of La Grande.

Janet Jean was born on July 23, 1936 in Sargent City, Nebraska, one of twin daughters born to Glen James and Louetta Mabel (Hunt) Roach.

Most of her life was spent in La Grande where she was raised and educated and baptized in the Lighthouse Pentecostal Church. She was married to Jack Mardis who preceded her in death in 2014.

Survivors include her children Jimmy Carter of Benton, Arkansas, Sheila Russel of Jenks, Oklahoma, Susan McCarthy of Miami, Oklahoma, Nancy Hinckley of Baker City, Peggy Kampen of Portland, Danny Caldwell of Corvallis, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, a sister Shirley Wallace, her twin sister Janette Joy Duarte, Cindy Flowerdew and brothers Jack Roach and Dean Roach. She was preceded in death by a sister Nancy Lee.
